Bain pleaded guilty to two counts in federal court Wednesday. She could face up to a year in prison and a 0,000 fine for failing to file a federal tax return in 2008, and up to six months in prison and a ,000 fine for failure to file a District of Columbia tax return in 2008.

Your best bet is to try researching the maker, WM Jackson Co. Depending on when it was made, and where, it could be VERY valuable. Don't do anything with it - i.e. sell it. You may want to try to find an antique arms & swords dealer in your area to take a look at it. I'll try looking quick online, if I find anything, I'll edit here.
Edit: Ok, I found some things, and I just saw your details, and it matches what I've found, listed 2 ways. "William Jackson's Sheaf Island Works, Sheffield, England" and "WM Jackson & Sons Sheaf Island Works, Sheffield". Both were on sites listing other knives, not bowie, but both were listed as "pre-civil war".
Edit again: Oohh, this is getting fun! (I love this stuff) You need to call history detectives on this, lol. "Ask no favors and shun no responsibilities" is a quote from one of Zachary Taylor's speeches, and was a phrase printed on his campaign badges.
Could it say "Old Zach" and not "Old Jack"? Old Zach was a nickname for Zachary Taylor, going back to his Rough & Ready Days. Look up some pics of him - I bet [...]
Not at all. Skirts are actually perfect for public relations. They hid everything.
