Free Music Downloads Startup ZapTunes.com Is Up for Sale

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 18, 2011

http://www.ZapTunes.com, a free music downloads service that got very controversial as soon as it launched has gone up for sale. The website was brought down almost immediately after launch by numerous lawsuits because it offered the visitors to download free music. ZapTunes tried to survive by changing its business model, but could not hold the ground for a long time.

However, according to company officials, ZapTunes.com has a very good page rank in Google with over 2 million pages indexed. At its peak, it saw more than 45,000 visitors a day. “It’s a shame to see such a nice flow of traffic going waste. So we decided to put the domain name and website up for sale, so that somebody else with a better business model could bank on it,” said Anand Patel, a company spokesman. Not too long ago, the site was among the top 100,000 websites visited around the globe, according to its Alexa Ranking. In April, the site’s Alexa rank was even lower than 60,000.

He further said that anybody who has tried Search Engine Optimization would know how difficult it is to get such a good page rank in Google with such a steady flow of traffic. To validate the traffic claims, he said, the company was ready to share the Google Analytics and Quantcast data with anyone who is interested.

The domain name, and the website source code is available for sale at a price of USD 100,000. Interested parties may contact the owner at info(at)zaptunes(dot)com with an offer.

edu is known as TLD or top level domain. The domain that Devry owns is devry.edu, and http://www.devry.edu is a subdomain of theirs or known as FQDN fully qualified domain name for the IP that connects to the website. So if you wanted to look up the IP address, you could open a command window and do: nslookup http://www.devry.edu
