In the context you are using it "career" sounds fine - it shows he has aspirations to be successful in the entertainment field.

By changing the sentence to - " His inspiration to make the world of Arts and Entertainment his vocation " could also work.

Another way could be to say, "His calling to the world of Arts and Entertainment was inspired by"....

Maybe use a Thesaurus to find the right alternative word that fits perfectly for you. When you find it - you will know at once.

    Good Luck..

    Edit

You could also use "field of" instead of "world of"

    Cheers

    Dear Amanda,
Hello and thank you for being an Arts& Entertainment Writer for the Beachcomber! I understand that you will be writing a story about the mayor elections for Miami Beach; go ahead and do this article. Just come up with a few ideas about what to start writing for the Arts& Entertainment Section. A couple of ideas include covering a story about an artist, a review for either a CD, movie, book or anything that you can relate to arts and entertainment. Stories for our section must be written, accounted for, and edited by the middle of next week so everyone is on a pretty tight schedule. Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    Ashley Moline
P.S. Leave me a note or comment me to let me know which story you would like to do, otherwise I will have to assign you one you may not be too interested in.
